Help Harvard Identify Leaders Who Seek to Impact the World
Dear Alumni,
I
am writing to request your valuable assistance in helping Harvard’s
Advanced Leadership Initiative (ALI) identify a distinguished group of
global leaders for the 2015 Advanced Leadership Fellowship, which begins
in January, 2015.
You may have already read about our bold interfaculty initiative, featured in this month's Harvard Magazine. This year, Harvard welcomed 38 Advanced Leadership Fellows , representing many countries and professions. Harvard's Advanced Leadership Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for accomplished colleagues who want to make the transition from their income-earning careers to their next years of achievement. Advanced Leadership Fellows are already addressing societal challenges such as education, public health, social justice, economic development, gender equality, community enhancement, or other ways to positively transform society.
Distinctive features of the Advanced Leadership Fellowship include:
•
The A.L. Fellowship is designed for leaders with at least 20-25 years
of leadership accomplishments in any field or profession wanting to make
a big difference in the world as they move on to a new life phase.
•
Advanced Leadership Fellows join Harvard for a calendar year (January
-December), with most of the formal on-campus program occurring in the
first four months on campus, followed by considerable individual
flexibility and project work for the rest of the year.
• The
focus is on action, as A.L. Fellows identify and make progress on a
promising project with high social impact potential.
• A core
program, led by distinguished faculty from many parts of the University,
is provided to the A.L. Fellows. Many areas of the University are
available for course audits (with faculty permission). Fellows audit up
to two courses.
• A partner option enables a spouse or partner to accompany the A.L. Fellow as a program participant.
•
A.L. Fellows work closely together as a strong peer group and have
opportunities to work with undergraduate, graduate, and professional
students.
• Network membership continues beyond the A.L.
Fellowship year. Annual gatherings at Harvard or in a global city
multiply the impact of everyone's projects.
The A.L. Fellowship
represents a new stage of learning-it is not a training or executive
program. Rather, it is a flexible, year of inquiry for already
accomplished leaders who want to positively impact society during the
next stage of their lives.
ALI is now accepting nominations for
its 2015 Advanced Leadership Fellowship. Colleagues interested in being
considered for the 2015 A.L. Fellowship are asked to "Introduce Yourself" to us as soon as possible in order to receive earliest consideration in the selection process.
I ask that you share this with your club membership, and post this information on your club website. A detailed Nomination Kit includes
considerable information on our program, our faculty, and our fellows.
Please learn more about the Advanced Leadership Initiative at our website, or email or phone me directly at john_kendzior@harvard.edu telephone +1 617. 496. 2452.
Thank
you, in advance, for helping identify a new force of leaders who seek
to re-engage with the University as they prepare for the next stage of
their lives.
Best,
John Kendzior
